- EASILOG TOOLS PROGRAM
- ---------------------
- INTRODUCTION
-
- ELTOOLS.EXE provides facilities to strip old CQ calls from a log making
- more room for QSOs, merge logs facilities for joining logs in correct
- date order or for splitting logs and facilities to import logs from
- other log programs.
-
- OPERATION
-
- On loading ELTOOLS the following menu is displayed:
-
- 1. Strip CQs
- 2. Merge Logs
- 3. Import Logs
- 4. Export Logs
- 5. Extract Log
- 6. Select Display
- 7. Exit
-
- If the display type has already been selected in EASILOG then ELTOOLS
- will load with the same display type selection.
-
- STRIP CQs
- ---------
- On selection a subsidiary menu will be presented:
-
- 1. Single Floppy Drive
- 2. Dual Floppy Drive
- 3. Hard Disc
- 4. Exit
-
- For all selections you will be asked for the Drive/Path for the log to
- be stripped, press ENTER if the log is on the default.
-
- A directory of logs will be displayed, use the cursor keys to select
- the desired log and press ENTER.
-
- You will then be asked for the date up to which CQs will be stripped.
- If this date is less than 6 months old you will be warned.
-
- The log is given the file identifier ".OLD" before being stripped, if a
- file has been left over from a previous strip with the same name you
- will be given the option of deleting that file.
-
- Single Floppy Drive
-
- You may chose either the A or B drive for this mode, useful if you have
- two drives and one of them is unreliable. If the log to be stripped is
- less than 5000 entries the log will be read, stripped and re-written in
- one pass. If the log is greater than 5000 entries then you will be
- prompted to put a new formatted disc in the drive during the stripping
- operation. The new stripped log will be put on the new disc. The old
- log is deleted on completion.
-
- 1
- Dual Floppy Drives
-
- The log to be stripped should be in the A drive and a clean formatted
- disc should be inserted into drive B. The new stripped log will be
- written to the B drive and the log on drive A deleted.
-
- Hard Disc
-
- The new stripped log will be placed in the same path as the old log
- which is deleted on completion.
-
- MERGE LOGS
- ----------
- Logs may be merged, or selected entries in a log may be transferred to
- another. If you want to remove all entries for a particular band and
- make a new log of these entries this can be done by extracting the
- required entries and merging them with a new empty log set up in
- EASILOG with the start new log facility.
-
- Entries extracted from the strip log will be merged with the append log
- in correct date order. Some logs from other logging programs are not in
- date order, this can be corrected by merging all the entries with a new
- or existing log after they have been converted using Import facility.
-
- It is possible to run MERGE on a single floppy drive but the log size
- will be severely restricted and you may run out of disc space.
-
- Operation
-
- On selection the following subsidiary menu is displayed:

- 1. Select Log to Strip
- 2. Select Log to Append
- 3. Browse Strip Log

- you to the menu.
-
-
- IMPORT
- ------
- This facility enables logs from other logging programs to be converted
- to EASILOG format.
-
- On selection the following menu is displayed.
-
- 1. RADIO logs
- 2. TURBOLOG logs
- 3. ADIF logs
- 4. G4TYF logs
- 5. G3WGV logs
- 6. LOG-EQF logs
- 7. HYPERLOG logs
- 8. DXLOG logs
- 9. Exit
-
- For all selections you will be asked to select the log to convert.
- After selecting Drive/Path (if not on the default) a directory of logs
- will be displayed for selection. Use the cursor keys to select the
- required log then press ENTER.
-
- You must then nominate a name for the new log file. After selecting the
- Drive/Path (if not on the default) where you wish the new log to be
- placed a directory of existing logs will be displayed, if you chose one
- of these it will be overwritten so take care. Do not give the new log
- the same name if they will both be in the same sub-directory.
-
- If, while importing, a date for a QSO is found to be invalid, a warning
- is given and the correct date can be input.
-
- At the completion of all conversions the number of entries in the new
- log is shown.
-
-
- 3
-
- RADIO Logs
-
- Files converted are ".TXT" files generated from the print log facility
- in RADIO, normally LOGBOOK.TXT. Make sure the callsign line of each QSO
- only contains Callsigns before importing. A maximum of 4 log entries
- can be generated per RADIO log entry depending on the number of calls
- in the callsign line of the original log.
-
- TURBOLOG Logs
-
- Files converted are ".TLG" files and are complete.
-
- ADIF Logs
-
- The logs converted are ".ADI" . These files generated by numerous
- logging programs to the Amateur Data Interface Format, SUPER DUPER is
- on example. Some of the logging programs do not log transmit power.
- This is a requirement of UK logs. This can be overcome by adding the
- text "<tx_pwr:n>x" at the start of the log, x is the power in watts and
- n is the number of characters in x, ie for 100 watts x=100 n=3.
-
- G4TYF Logs
-
- Files converted are ".LOG" files and are complete.
-
- G3WGV Logs
-
- These logs are ".LOG" files and do not contain the date of the contest
- or your transmit power. At the Contest date prompt enter the date of
- the first QSO. If, while importing, the time of a QSO is earlier than
- the previous QSO you will be prompted for a date for that call (which
- need not necessarily be the following day).
- At the power prompt enter your transmitted power for the contest.
- All comments are set to "CONTEST".
-
- LOG-EQF logs
-
- Files converted are ".LOG" files and are complete.
-
- HYPERLOG logs
-
- Files converted are ".DAT" files. These logs do not record the end of
- contact time, this is set to the same time as the start of contact.
-
- DXLOG logs
-
- Files converted are "?QSO.DBF" files. The QSO end time is not recorded
- nor is the transmit power which must be entered at the prompt
-
-

-
-
-
-
- EXPORT LOGS
- -----------
-
- Logs can be exported to other programs that accept the ADIF standard
- log format. ADIF stands for Amateur Data Interface Standard which is
- now supported by most major logging programs. Logs are converted from
- Easilog *.LOG format to *.ADI files with the same log name. Text and
- Station Data entries are ignored.
-
-
- EXTRACT LOG
- -----------
-
- This facility allows the selection of QSOs by date period, frequency,
- mode and comment keyword(s).
-
- A log will be written containing the selected QSOs without making any
- change to the original log.
-
- You can, for example, extract all QSOs for 6 metres SSB from 1st Jan
- 1994 to 31st Dec 1994 with the word "Locator" in the comment field.
- This log can then be printed out if desired with ELPRINT.
- Any combination of frequency band and mode can be selected
